From reader Jeremy K, I love your site. It helped me know what services to disable and leave up...my boot time is now 10 seconds. Anyways....about the terminal service, it's required for Sony Vegas 4.0/5.0 video editing software to run. I had it disabled (as i didn't have any of the listed items turned on, but then I kept getting an error message every time i loaded Vegas....so....it's needed for me.

From reader Shao, Helping out. Since I looked for this info myself a while back but did not find it anywhere, I decided to do some testing myself to solve the issue. The issue was that “Windows Desktop Search Indexing Options” was disabled on my system after installing Windows Desktop Search & Toolbar. Problem/Solution: The “Terminal Services” service is needed for this configuration option to be enabled. Regards, Shao From reader PJ, Hi, A comment to this http://www.theeldergeek.com/terminal_services.htmTurning this service of causes Microsoft Intellipoint mouse driver to hang and crash!(?) Why the heck would a mouse drive need this you may ask, well Microsoft works in mysterious ways its crashes to perform. However they apparently thought it was a bit silly, so there is an small update to the driver which causes it not to crash anymore (fingers crossed) http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=834840
