The Protected
Storage service certainly needs to be active if you are
using Outlook Express, otherwise you have to type the
password every time you want to check your emails. So it
doesn't just have to do with autocomplete or password
storage for Internet Explorer.
TEG: I agree that if you don't want the hassle of entering
your passwords that Automatic or Manual would be the way
to go on Protected Storage.

Protected Storage Service You Have States That With It Disabled You
Have To Enter Your Password Every time You use Outlook Express And I
Personally Have It Disabled And Have No Problems What So Ever With
Outlook Express. It Logs On And Checks For Emails Without Me Entering
Any Passwords. Just Thought You Might Like To Know. Thanks For
All The Info By The Way.
