the original hosts file looks like this, only one entry
# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost -------------------- CCSP MCSE:03 MCITP:EMA,EA

QUOTE(ricktendo64 @ Aug 18 2006, 10:44 PM) What is better Notepad++ or Notepad2? I am having some problems with SpywareBlaster. After enabling all the protection I am being redirected to http://froogle.google.com/froogle_url?q=ht...gl=us&hl=en when I click on ebay.com link in froogle. I would also like to ask you why you are attempting to modify the Host file. Contrary to popular belief, adding a huge number of ad or other site urls here will not stop you from getting adware\spyware\malware. Spyware blaster was once a good idea but such things have had their time and come and gone. There are far better ways and, although I once used Spyware Blaster and the Host method, I no longer do. Here is a link to tons of Myths regarding XP and performance as well as Security. If you brows down to the "Security Myths" near the bottom, you will see a good explanation as to why the Host file really doesn't work well. TTFN.
