Microsoft Service
Description |
Maintains links between NTFS files within a computer or
across computers in a network domain. |
|
Dependencies |
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) |
|
|
Real World Description |
For those that are part of a domain -and- use NTFS it has
some value in keeping links across machines up to date,
especially in the case of databases updated via the network. |
|
Is this service needed? |
Possibly |
Recommended Setting: |
Manual |
|
Note |
Updated to reflect SP2
changes.
10/17/2002 - I originally listed this service as not
needed and recommended it be disabled. If you are using the
FAT32 file system that advice still applies. However, as
more and more users gravitate to NTFS and judging from the
number of readers that have written, I've changed this to a
Possibly needed service and suggest it be set to Manual. |
