A Real Confidence

Like many of you, I subscribe to a
few newsletters from Microsoft. They aren't all jewels but on
occasion they do contain a tidbit of information that falls outside
the boundaries of self-promotion. I admit, I was a bit curious when
Bill Gates sent out his first newsletter so I did a read through and
decided to subscribe to future newsletters from Gates, Ballmer, and
the rest of the MS elves. What I received for my efforts is depicted
in the three screen captures below.

So Far - So Good

Uh - Oh. Must be a
lot of interested people. Let's click Retry.

Nice work, guys.
Maybe I'll try and confirm my subscription tomorrow.

10/02/2002 In all fairness, I did
manage to subscribe and today received a letter penned by
Steve Ballmer detailing some of the progress in resolving
software bugs through the use of Microsoft Error Reporting.
In spite of the laugh I got from the initial sign-up
experience, I'd recommend you subscribe. All information has
some value; some just takes longer to make its value known.

I still continue to get letters saying I'm a Bill Gates
hater and a jerk for posting this page. Lighten up
folks. It was intended as a bit of humor. We've all had
days when things didn't go as we planned and this was
merely one of those situations that I found a bit
humorous. And for all those who claim I'm a Gates hater,
you couldn't be further from correct. I have the utmost
respect for the man, not only as a technology genius but
as a philanthropist. I read an article today titled "Bill
Gates Is A Good Guy" that I agree with totally.
Check it out; it just might give you a new perspective
on that jealousy you're harboring. |
